Volunteer

Why volunteer for Emilia's Little Heart?

Becoming a volunteer for us can be a rewarding way to support children emotionally when they are in hospital. Volunteers are a valued part of the charity, we could not achieve the things we do without the support of our volunteers whom enable us to do so much more than would otherwise be possible.

How you can volunteer

Events
We can not organise and run many events throughout the year without the enthusiasm and support from volunteers. You could be part of a team who organises and attends events such as Christmas and Summer school fetes or comes up with their own ideas to raise money to ensure the success of the charity continues.

Administration

Could you help by providing some of your time to help us to update our accounts monthly or take minutes at meetings? You could also be instrumental in obtaining money for us by writing applications for banks and supermarket community giving.  Or most importantly sending out letters of thanks to those people who have fundraised for us.

Collection boxes
We are always looking for volunteers with their own cars to who would be willing to deliver and collect our collection boxes to and from local businesses.

Emilia's Little Heart Ambassador

Become an ambassador of the charity if you are good at public speaking or giving presentations.  You could use your fabulous skills to help us raise the profile of Emilia's Little Heart in the local community. We are often unable to fulfil many speaking engagements that are offered and are always keen to find ambassadors to help us spread the word of our work.

To find out more or to let us know you would like to help please email Claire at emiliaslittleheart@gmail.com.

Happy Volunteers

Meet the volunteers

If you speak to people who already volunteer for us you will hear that they do it because they love it.  So why not help the unwell children and young people have fun whilst you do at the same time. There are many ways in which you can help support Emilia's Little Heart's work with some of the most poorly children who have to spend a lot of time in hospital.

Elizabeth McLaren
Liz is one of our fantastic Ambassadors and has been an amazing supporter of the charity since it was set up. She supports in many ways by providing her admin skills at meetings by taking the minutes, setting up our accounts system and starting to set up a grants application system.  She is also always there when it comes to our annual Hope Ball, with early preparations of going from shop to shop asking for raffle prizes.  She had also been the driving force for obtaining sponsorship for this event. Liz also has a creative side and we hope to be able to provide younger children some comfort with a cuddle blanket designed and made by Liz very soon.

Maddie Campbell
Maddie and her friend's Ellie and Olivia approached the charity and asked if they could volunteer for us for a few months whilst undertaking their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh Award.  We felt very honoured that they wanted to find out more about the charity's work and to organise events to raise money.  They were extremely successful and organised cake sales, and a '70s' Disco to buy a sand a water table for the local hospital. The girls also got to come down to the hospital and see for themselves how the work of the charity really makes a difference to children's hospital experiences.

Katie Pounder
Katie is one of our young Ambassadors who has always strived to help the charity in its work. She is a creative and enthusiastic young person who has raised money for the charity by organising small scale fundraising activities. She has had lots of fun challenging herself to come up with innovative ways to fundraise though cakes sales at her school sports day to asking her friends and family to sponsor her for doing a walk.
